Tonight the Parsippany Planning Board will make a decision on a development project that could drastically effect the layout of Parsippany Road and set a precedent for dozens of properties in Parsippany. This project began this past January, when the Parsippany Township Council voted to declare 272 Parsippany Road as in need of “rehabilitation.” As such, the developer is in front of the Planning Board requesting a number of variances to build five-story building with a bank in front and 50 condominiums set back behind. This area within throwing distance of three other pre-existing developments — Colonial Heights, Parsippany Gardens and Westgate.
When asked to reduce the size of the building and the number of total units, the developer resisted and said that 50 units is the only way to receive a return on investment.
